Description

UTC is a public institution specialized in science and technology.  It was created in 1972 as a new model in the French higher education system. This experiment aimed at bridging the gap between:
• the elite school system (Grandes Ecoles) and the standard universities
• the higher education institutions and industry
UTC’s main missions are education, research and transfer of technology.  It is well integrated within the European system of higher education and it has pursued, since its creation, an ambitious international policy.  Its model has been duplicated in France in the cities of Troyes (UTT) and Belfort-Montbéliard (UTBM) and abroad in China and Chilie.
UTC interacts with society and industry by anticipating the research's requirements of companies and by facilitating the professional insertion of its students, thanks to its educational values based on students' autonomy and its interdisciplinary research. UTC has developed a large expertise about Quality Management.

Role in Project
UTC has developed a large expertise about quality management in research and training activities. UTC participates into applied researches with CNRS’s laboratories in order to develop specific quality approaches. Since many years UTC is involved in implementation programs for quality in higher education including the practice of assessment and selfassessment. On another hand, UTC has a good experience about the external assessment mixing two different but also similar requirements, one from CTI (Commission du Titre d’Ingénieur) the other from AERES. According to these skills, in the framework of this project, UTC will be able to contribute about quality assurance focalized on the specific needs of higher education and research activities, including the continuous improvement and self-assessment practice in relationship with references (standards).
