Description

The Directorate General of Higher Education (DGHE) is responsible of Maintaining Higher Education National standards in the public and private higher education institutions in Lebanon.
DGHE is member of the Council of Higher Education (CHE) which is in charge of:
• Advising the council of ministries for new university license demand. 
• Define the Policy Statement of Higher Education 
• Supervise the activities of private universities in Lebanon
DGHE includes CHE, Colloquium, Engineering and Equivalence departments :
1- The Technical Committee which is created according to the decree 9274/96 and responsible for evaluating new and existing universities.
2- The equivalence Committee which is created in 1955 and responsible for recognition of diplomas.
3- The Engineering Committee which is responsible mainly to give authorization of practice as Engineer.
4- The Colloquium examinations Committees which are created in 1955 and responsible mainly for practicing Health Specialties.

Role in Project
The Directorate General of Higher Education (DGHE) works on the dissemination of quality assurance in Higher education and the development of procedures, criteria & standards for QA & Accreditation in Lebanon. We have participated in the development of guides in this field. The DGHE will provide input about the whole Lebanese Higher Education system. The DGHE will participate to the definition of the whole Quality Model, the standards and procedures and the criteria to select the experts. The DGHE will also help organizing roundtables and disseminate the information and results of the project within the higher education system.
