Institut National Polytechnique de Lorraine (INPL) is a public University of Technology.
It was founded in 1971 at the same time as the other national Polytechnic Institutes of Grenoble and Toulouse. It is one of the three universities of Nancy with Université de Nancy 2, and Université Henri Poincaré. The three universities of Nancy have decided to form a federation under the name of "Nancy Université". "Nancy Université" employs 4000 faculty and attracts 45,000 students.
INPL has :
* 4,000 students, including 1,000 PhD Students. 18 % are foreign students: more than 50 countries represented
* 400 teaching staff (1 Faculty for 10 students)
* 160 full-time researchers
* a life-long Education department
* 446 contracts with French and European agencies
* 228 contracts with industry

INPL consists of seven "Grandes Écoles" (Graduate Engineering Schools) and a School of Architecture. It awards engineering (or architecture) diplomas, masters and PhD degrees.

Role in Project
INPL brings to the consortium theoretical and practical knowledge in Quality Management: auditing, evaluation, standards, tools and, methodologies. Therefore, INPL provides to the consortium its quality coordinator who has the experience of several Tempus projects in quality assurance and external evaluation. INPL also provides an expertise regarding external evaluation, self-assessment tools and a good knowledge of existing standards.
