CIEP is a public body under the Ministry of Education devoted to the development of education worldwide and working in close collaboration with numerous partners, both French and international public and private organisations in the domain of education. Its two principal fields of activity are:
- Education (general, vocational and higher): Analysis and management of education systems, advice on education reforms, institutional building, development and management of projects, follow-up of modernization and innovation processes, training of local professionals, and participation in bilateral or multilateral cooperation programs.
- Languages: French and foreign languages, certifications and evaluation.
Since its founding in 1946, CIEP conceives, organizes and hosts large seminars and conferences. CIEP also conducts in-depth studies on educational issues. Its International Education Review (Revue Internationale de Sèvres) includes articles by specialists from around the world.

Role in Project
CIEP has a sound experience in conducting higher education projects and notably those funded by the European Commission. Its main topics of interest in the domain of higher education concern Quality Assurance, Bologna Process and Training of Top Managers in Higher Education Institutions. During the last ten years, CIEP coordinated 8 TEMPUS projects on Quality Assurance in the MEDA region and in Central and Eastern Europe. Currently, CIEP is coordinating a Tempus project whose topic is close to the topic of this project: it aims at promoting internal quality assurance for 10 universities in Algeria, Tunisia and Morocco. Within this project, CIEP developed good working relations with two national agencies for evaluation in higher education and research in France and in Spain.
CIEP’s role is to be an “educational services designer” putting together different French competencies in higher education and exporting them abroad.
