Description
UOB is a private non-profit institution for higher learning. Rooted on the picturesque hill of Balamand, on a rural setting between the Cedars and the Mediterranean, UOB grew over the 23 years of life from a handful of students to over 4000 today. It has nine faculties and a number of institutes and research centers. Quality in education has been a major characteristic of the activities conducted at the University. Internal quality assurance is well defined and organized. The University has participated actively in several Quality Assurance projects, e.g. Tempus-LEPAC, UNDP-EQAIP. UOB believes, supports and engages resources in collective efforts towards the modernization of the Lebanese Higher Education system. UOB has established strong cooperation with several institutions in Lebanon and abroad and in particular with several European and North American institutions.

Role in Project
As applicant of this project, UOB will seek to coordinate the efforts towards exploring and experimenting tools useful for an expected Lebanese Agency for Quality Assurance in Higher Education. UOB strongly believes that communication and dialogue across the consortium but also throughout the whole Lebanese Higher Education system about aspects like continuous improvement, accountability and development would allow to prepare the ground for such an agency. As such the activities conducted in this project will have a positive impact beyond the direct objectives of the project on aspects like quality culture, knowledge, trust building. UOB will also try to promote the achievements in the Bologna Process as an inspiring model for the Lebanese Higher Education. Finally, UOB will offer its experience, platforms, infrastructure and, quality and education professionals to support the project reaching its goals which will certainly improve the quality of the Lebanese Higher Education.
