Saint-Joseph University of Beirut is one of the most prestigious universities in Lebanon. Established in 1875, it encompasses all fields of specialization (medical, science and engineering, social and human science, the arts) and all levels of higher education, including doctoral degrees.
The University counts more than 400 tenured faculty members, around 1700 instructors, and more than 11,000 students.
It is member of several international networks, among which the International Association of Universities (IAU), l’Agence universitaire de la Francophonie (AUF), the Association of Arab Universities (AArU), and the International Federation of Catholic Universities (IFCU).
Its diplomas and degrees are recognized by the MEHE of Lebanon, and it has received, in 2009, institutional accreditation by the French Agence de l’évaluation de la recherche et de l’enseignement supérieur, thus becoming one of the leading Lebanese higher education institutions in terms of quality assurance.
USJ has also been an active member of the national committees in charge of quality of higher education, and its representative has been, for more than 15 years, the rapporteur of the Equivalences National Commission.
